Priligy is an oral medicine used by male patients for the treatment of premature ejaculation. Premature ejaculation is a disorder in which males have uncontrolled ejaculation either before or shortly after the physical relationship with their partner. It happens mainly due to the low concentration of the neurotransmitter like serotonin. This results in unsatisfactory intercourse for the male and his partner.

Mechanism of action of Priligy

The sympathetic nervous system controls the condition of Ejaculation reflex. It sends the signals to the brain when the intimacy activity reaches to certain threshold. Dapoxetine inhibits the reuptake of neurotransmitter and smoothes the blood vessels of the penile region.

Contraindication of Priligy

Priligy is contraindicated for the use in patients with the following conditions:

  • Do not consume this drug if you are allergic to generic Dapoxetine and other inactive ingredients of the medicine.
  • Avoid taking this medication if you are having the history of dizziness and low blood pressure.
  • Avoid taking this medicine if you are suffering from Heart and blood vessels disorders.
  • Do not take this drug if you are suffering from Psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia.
  • In case you have the history of mania (hallucinations) or bipolar disorder (extreme mood swings) you should not take this medicine.
  • If you are suffering from Seizures (fits) or have uncontrolled epilepsy then do not use this medicine.
  • Priligy is not to be used if you are suffering from the problem of severe liver or kidney disorders.
  • Do not consume this drug if you are suffering from Arrhythmias and conduction disorders.

Drug interaction of Priligy

There are some drugs that are likely to interfere with the action of generic Dapoxetine

Thioridazine, Norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), CYP3A4 inhibitors, St. John’s Wort, Monoamine Oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), nitrate drugs, alpha blockers, adrenergic receptor antagonists, ED drugs.

Dosage instructions of Priligy

Priligy is available in dosage forms of 30mg and 60mg. it is recommended to start with minimum dose and increase it later if needed. Take this medicine 1 hour prior to intimacy session. Do not crush and chew the tablets. It can be taken with or without food. Do not take more than one tablet within 24 hours period.

Overdose of Priligy

Avoid taking an overdose of Priligy as it may be harmful to your health.  The symptoms of an overdose of this medicine include Nausea, Over Excitation, Vomiting and Increase Blood Pressure.

Storage conditions of Priligy

Priligy tablets should be kept in an airtight container at 25 ° C temperature. Protect it from heat light and moisture. Keep this medicine unreachable to the kids.
