Generic Tretinoin and Hydroquinone are available with the brand name of Tri-Luma. Hydroquinone is a skin bleaching mediator and Tretinoin is a type of vitamin A that helps in skin renewing by itself more quickly.  Melasma is the skin condition that causes brown to gray-brown patches on the face. It mainly arises due to pregnancy, intake of birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy and exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light.

Working of Tretinoin and Hydroquinone

Generic Hydroquinone works as a bleaching agent. It shows its action to decrease the shady patches of the skin to direct staining and whitening of the skin. It acts by inhibiting the activity of the factors that are responsible for skin colorization. Tretinoin is the second main ingredient that helps to lessen the appearing of the fine wrinkles, infrequently it also used to treat acne.

Contraindications of Tretinoin and Hydroquinone

  • Do not apply this cream if you are allergic to the generic Tretinoin and Hydroquinone.

Chloromycetin (chloramphenicol),  Hydrocortisone 1% In Absorbers (hydrocortisone topical), Citrus Calcium with Vitamin D (calcium / vitamin d), Erythrocin (erythromycin), Low Dose ASA (aspirin), Premarin (conjugated estrogens), Retin-A (Tretinoin topical), Naprosyn (naproxen), Hydroquinone and Sunscreen (hydroquinone topical), Tylenol with Codeine (acetaminophen / codeine), Maxalt (rizatriptan) Zetia (ezetimibe), Zoloft (sertraline)

How should you apply this cream?

Apply this formulation only to the affected area of the skin. This cream is recommended to use once in a day. Apply a thin layer on the affected area of the skin and rub it gently with soft hands. Apply it at bedtime and wash it off in the morning.

Missed dose of Tretinoin and Hydroquinone

If you missed to apply the cream then apply it on the next day. But never apply it in large quantity to match up with the missed dose.

Storage of Tretinoin and Hydroquinone

This formulation should be kept at room temperature. Protect it from heat, light and moisture.
